Nicky & Rachel
Co-Founders & Directors
With over 20 years of combined experience in health, safety, wellbeing, and project management, we created Koal to deliver practical, down-to-earth solutions that truly work for businesses and their teams.
Nicky started her career in London with the global property company DTZ before moving to Perth, Australia, and later to Auckland. In NZ, she led the HS&W team at 2degrees, achieving the country’s first WELL Building certification and developing wellbeing initiatives such as HeadFits. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology, a diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, and is currently completing a graduate diploma in Psychotherapy at AUT.
Rachel began her career in her family’s quantity surveying business, gaining hands-on experience in project management and developing a strong understanding of safe and efficient work environments. She holds a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management (Level 6) and an Adult and Tertiary Teaching qualification (Level 5), combining practical industry knowledge with the ability to deliver clear, engaging training. Rachel takes a pragmatic approach to contractor management and health and safety, focused on solutions that work in real-world environments.
Together, we combine expertise in health, safety, wellbeing, and leadership to help businesses create safer, healthier workplaces. Our approach is realistic, collaborative, and tailored to the unique needs of each client.
Outside of Koal, you’ll find Nicky cheering on her kids at sports games and Rachel exploring the outdoors with her two Labradors, Maisy and Reggie.
